How to be God’s Hands: Spreading Hope in a Hopeless World
Many times in life we struggle to keep going. Whether we are exhausted emotionally, physically, spiritually, or anything else.
Isaiah 40:28-31 talks about these moments when we are weary. It says,
“Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard, that the everlasting God, the Lord, the Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not, neither is weary? there is no searching of his understanding. He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might he increaseth strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, and the young men shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.”
Isaiah 40:28-31
Words of Comfort
Doesn’t this have so much comfort in it? When the words say, “But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…”
Doesn’t that sound wonderful?
Oh how God is so good! He will never fail us! This world is a scary place sometimes. There are so many sad and terrible things that happen that cause pain, sadness, fear, anxiety, etc.
This reminds me that it is also good and God can help you see that even in hard times. He also can give you the energy you need in times when you don’t have energy and are struggling through life.
Spreading Hope to the Hopeless
This verse of scripture gives me so much hope. It has for a long time. I have a son that is about 9 months old. I had a very hard labor. God gave me the strength to get through it. This scripture reminds me that God gives you strength in moments of desperation, pain, and sorrow. In moments of joy and happiness also.
Everyone knows about what’s been going on in the world since 2020. It’s been hard for all of us in many different ways. Some of us have lost people, some have been sick ourselves, some of us have been hospitalized, some have lost jobs.
Others have missed out on things like graduation, getting married with a reception, missing funerals, and so many other events.
It’s been hard for EVERY SINGLE one of us. All in different ways. But oh, how God is still so GOOD. He helps us still. EVEN through a pandemic! Which I am so grateful for.
What has God done for you during this time that has carried you further than you would have been able to do by yourself?
There are times when we know God is good but we ask where are you? Are you abandoning me?
No. He doesn’t. But it might feel that way.
Many times God needs us to learn something and is letting us take a leap of faith. Then when you show you are being faithful, He blesses you even more abundantly because you showed Him that you trusted and still chose Him even when you felt like He was being silent.
I absolutely love this scripture. “For we are God’s masterpiece, created anew in Jesus to do good works that we should walk in them!” Ephesians 2:10

We are His hands
God wants us to be His hands here on earth. He wants us to help others follow Him. That doesn’t mean that you choose not to love and be kind to those that decide not to follow God.
It is okay. They still need to make choices themselves. God wants us to make choices. That was THE plan.
But it is still hard. To see those we love not to choose what we know to be true. But it’s okay. We are His hands. If we even plant just a mustard seed of knowledge about Jesus to people that will be enough. We will have done our part.
Here are some ways we can be God’s hands:
- List your gratitudes year-round (not just Thanksgiving!)
- Choose to have faith in all circumstances
- Choose love over hate
- Serve those around us (even those that are different than us)
- Make time for people
- Volunteer to help and be friends with those people that are lonely, sad, struggling, etc
- Be someone’s safety call if they are mentally not okay
- Help someone through a transition in their life. Whether it is marriage, birth, death, divorce. Or something else
- Bring the Spirit with you in all aspects of your life
- Be an example of good
- Bear testimony of our Savior

There are so many ways to have hope. There are many people that need hope.
You can be God’s hands in this world. Be them. God can help you when you feel like you can collapse and give up. He can help you in your own life.
Just think about what you can do with Him for others. If you have been thinking of doing something for someone recently. Do it.
Spread the world with love and hope and goodness! I believe in you. God believes in you. He needs you! You are precious to Him and all of His children are precious to Him. You got this!
