In The Heavenly Seat: Q+A With Amanda Frey

December 8, 2021

Since starting Salt + Sparrow I have been blessed to meet and become friends with some of the most talented women.

One of my fears coming into this blog was that I wouldn’t be capable of producing enough content to keep this page going.

“Moses said to the Lord, ‘Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.’ The Lord said to him, ‘Who gave human beings their mouths? Who makes them deaf or mute? Who gives them sight or makes them blind? Is it not I, the Lord? Now go; I will help you speak and will teach you what to say.”

Exodus 4:10-12

But God has been so good. He has continuously brought me new writers, new ideas, and new content so that I can keep spreading His word. Like I saw on Instagram.. #makeheavencrowded is the goal here. And even on the days I’m not quite sure how to do my part, He comes through. Just like the Bible teaches us. Imagine that, friends!

Anywho.

One of these talented women I’ve been blessed to cross paths with is not only a contributor for this site, but she’s also a small business owner. And since I’ve wanted to highlight Christian business owners this holiday season, I thought it would be fun to sit down and do a little QA with Amanda.

She was such a good sport and answered all of my random questions flawlessly. You can learn more about Amanda and her business if you keep reading below!

In The Heavenly Seat: Q+A With Amanda Frey

What is your business and why did you start it?

I am a Life and Relationship Coach and my business is called Breath of Life Speaking and Coaching. I help women build the RIGHT Relationship first so they can experience internal heart healing, walk in wholeness, and live a life of freedom and fullness.

Honestly,  I started this business because I knew that God was calling me to step out in faith and build a business. As I said yes to The Lord and took a step of faith, He ordered my every step!

I am so passionate about this business because before I learned to build the RIGHT Relationship first, I was building all the wrong relationships for the wrong reasons and it left me heartbroken, empty, and lonely, every single time.

I knew there had to be MORE to life, but I wasn’t able to find it. It wasn’t until I “Let Go and Let God” that I found REAL Life: life in fullness! I found freedom from the chains that were holding me down and I found so much MORE! Now, I am passionate about helping others experience real freedom and a life in fullness!

Tell me about a client that touched your heart, and tell me about a patient that changed your practice.

Oh wow, this is a hard one! I would say a client that touched my heart was one who had recently ended a 7 year relationship with her boyfriend and knew she needed something more than what the world could offer. She had just started going to a church and knew she needed real heart healing.

She came to me in hopes that I could help. She worked with me for 12 weeks and to see her transformation in just 12 weeks was incredible! She even had friends and family notice the transformation that was happening! Her relationship with God was growing as well as her relationship with herself! She started to walk in complete confidence and was freed from the chains of anxiety, stress, performance, and worry! We cried tears of joy and celebrated together!

I wouldn’t say I had a specific patient that changed my practice, but instead all the patients I was able to care for changed my practice and life!

Prior to starting Breath of Life, I worked with pediatric oncology patients and every time I would go into work I would walk away in complete amazement at my patients’ attitude in the midst of uncertainty. There was always a smile on my patients’ faces regardless of being diagnosed with cancer. They were always so positive and it really taught me to “count it all Joy”.

Every single day, regardless of what you are walking through, remember you are blessed and look for the positive in life’s circumstances.

What is one thing that your program did for your client that you didn’t expect?

One thing The Restore Program did for one of my clients that I was not expecting was that it gave them complete freedom! A freedom from anxiety and stress. I remember when my client came to one of our sessions and was crying because she felt so much lighter and free from the heaviness she had been carrying! Praise Jesus! He is STILL Freeing and Healing people TODAY!

What’s something you wish everyone understood about confidence?

I wish that everyone understood that real confidence can only come from God.

In order to be fully confident in who you are, you have to know who God created you to be and in order to know who God created you to be, you have to build a relationship with Him.

People who find their confidence from the world carry a shallow, surface level confidence, but people who find their confidence in their Creator carry a real, deep, secure confidence that can not be shaken by anything or anyone in the world.

Heavenly Seat Confidence

What’s something you wish everyone understood about faith?

This is a good one! Faith is a daily journey. We have to continue to build our faith each day and we build our faith when we build our relationship with God. The more you see God at work in and through your life, the more your faith is built. The only way to see God at work in your life is when you choose to allow Him in through building a relationship with Him.

What makes you feel inspired or like your best self?

What makes me feel inspired is seeing people be set FREE from the chains of this broken world. Seeing hearts deeply healed and lives completely transformed inspires me!  That’s probably why I do what I do! What makes me feel like my best self is when I am living out my purpose!

If you could have a billboard with anything on it, what would it be and why?

I would probably have a billboard that said, “You are Loved!” Simple, but a message that a lot of people don’t FULLY believe or aren’t able to FULLY receive deep in their hearts. It’s one thing to have head knowledge, but it’s another thing for your heart to fully receive and believe that “you are loved”.

What’s your favorite holiday tradition?

My favorite holiday tradition is being with my family on Christmas Day! One of the things we do every Christmas morning is go to church together and then after church we all go back to my parents place and make a big brunch with mimosas and open gifts around the Christmas tree. Such a sweet time with my family!

Favorite snack?

Hmmmm, my favorite snack is probably tortilla chips and dip, or, if we are talking sweet snacks, I would say Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups.

What is a life rule you live by?

A life rule I live by would be Never Give Up!

When you let God guide you in life, things do not have to be heavy or stressful, but you still have to show up and choose to never give up. God loves partnership. We don’t have to force things to happen, but we do have to play an active role in our lives as God guides us, and that includes not giving up when seasons may be challenging or uncertain.

What would you tell someone on the fence about hiring a coach?

This is such a good one! I used to be that person that did not believe in investing. I believed that with God on my side, I did not need to invest in anything else. LOL. Although it’s true that with God, all things are possible, it doesn’t mean that God won’t guide you to someone who can help you through a difficult season and sometimes that requires an investment.

Jesus had to pay a HIGH PRICE by dying on The Cross in order for us to be saved from death. I believe that God loves to use His people to help His people through difficult seasons, and sometimes, that requires an investment. I have hired multiple coaches within the past year and I can say, I would NOT be where I am today, if I had not invested in the coaches that God placed on my path! God uses HIS PEOPLE to HELP HIS PEOPLE!

Favorite Christmas movie or song?

My favorite Christmas song is “He’s Brought Joy To The World” and “Go Tell It On The Mountain”

What’s your go-to coffee order?

That’s easy! I am a coffee addict. I always get a large cold brew with oat milk and three stevia. Simple, but perfect!

If you could turn back the time and talk to your 18-year old self, what would you tell her?

I would tell her that she is beautiful and to just be herself!

Growing up I struggled with feeling like I wasn’t good enough and because of that I hated myself and tried EVERYTHING to fit in. I wanted to feel seen, accepted, and loved. I had zero confidence. I ended up going down a lot of paths that lead to a lot of heartbreak and brokenness. Looking back I would tell my 18 year old self that I am beautiful and made perfect in God’s image. I would tell her I am already chosen, seen, and loved! This truth applies to every single person!

What’s your favorite Bible Verse?

Currently my favorite Bible Verse is Psalm 84:11. “For The Lord God is a sun and shield; The Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does He withhold from those whose walk is blameless.” -Psalm 84:11 NIV.

I love this verse so much because it’s a beautiful reminder that GOD IS FOR US! He is our light and our protector, He gives us favor and honor, and He does not withhold ANY good thing from those who walk blameless. What a beautiful reminder! So when you’re doubting God’s goodness and plan for your life, speak this verse aloud over yourself!

What’s something people seem to misunderstand about you?

I think people misunderstand my life. What I mean by that is oftentimes when you FULLY surrender your life to The Lord, He takes you down paths and roads that people, especially friends and family, don’t understand.

People will always question what you’re doing or why you are doing it that way and I have found that you have to be okay with being misunderstood. I have learned what to share with others and what not to share.

As long as you know you are walking hand in hand with Jesus, nothing else matters, because His plan for your life is perfect and the outcome with Jesus is always victory.

What should I ask you that I didn’t know enough to ask?

  • I was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes when I was 7 years old!
  • I played lacrosse in high school and for a few years in college!
  • I love working with youth! I coach high school lacrosse and I am a youth leader at my church!
