The Best Christian Self Help Books to Boost Your Faith and Personal Growth
I’m a firm believer in the power and importance of a solid morning routine.
My morning routine is honestly my favorite part of each day. As I’m sitting here writing this – I’m already looking forward to getting up tomorrow and participating in mine.
So what is this magical part of my day, you may wonder?
My morning routine consists of quiet time, Bible Study, coffee, and reading one chapter of a personal development book. Every morning. It’s honestly the best.
Not only has it helped me get into a rhythm with God’s word, but I’ve also picked up a few new life skills while simultaneously checking more books off my annual reading challenge. A win all around. Or.. W as my 13 year old would say.

Create a Life You Love: How to Quiet Outside Voices So You Can Finally Hear Your Own by Stephanie May Wilson
Okay full transparency right up front. Stephanie May Wilson is a Christian author, but I wouldn’t necessarily call this a Christian book. While she does mention her faith and going to church throughout the book, the themes aren’t necessarily Biblical based. So technically maybe this one doesn’t count? But I did really, really like it – so I added it to the list.
In Create a Life You Love, Stephanie talks about tuning out the noise of expectations; you know – the ones others place on our lives? When we feel like we have to fit a certain mold or follow a specific path just because society tells us to. Instead she challenges us to push aside distractions so that we can learn to truly connect with who we are meant to be. Through finding our own voice and purpose to truly build a life based on our values and dreams.

Her True Worth: Breaking Free From a Culture of Selfies, Side Hustles, and People Pleasing to Embrace Your True Identity in Christ by Brittany Maher and Cassandra Speer
This book is written from the perspective of two women and their struggle finding the balance between what the world tells us how and who a woman should be, and who God says we are.
After years of working in the beauty industry, Brittany and Cassandra began to recognize that society’s message about a woman’s worth was rooted in the wrong things. They were tired of seeking approval from the world, and instead, made it their mission to inspire women to find their value and identity in Jesus.
Do It Anyway: Don’t Give Up Before It Gets Good by Tasha Cobbs Leonard
In Do It Anyway, Tasha shares her journey through challenges with resilience and a faith-first attitude. She dives into moments where she chose courage over comfort, pursuing big dreams and putting God’s plans for her above her own. The resounding theme of this book is to trust God’s direction even when it feels impossible, or doesn’t make sense. Reminding us that our own struggles can become powerful testimonies of His strength.
It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way: Finding Unexpected Strength When Disappointments Leave You Shattered by Lysa Terkeurst
In her book, It’s Not Supposed To Be This Way, Lysa touches on what to do when faced with disappointments. She walks us through relying on faith, healing, and forgiveness when the life we envisioned for ourselves looks drastically different or takes another turn.
Based on sharing her own uncomfortable truths, she lets us know that when we face trials – we don’t have to be alone.

Rick Warren
The Purpose Driven Life: What On Earth Am I Here For?
This is one of the first Christian self help books I read and it’s what started my spiral into a new daily routine (so thank you, Mr. Warren). If you have struggled with the concept of knowing why you were put on this Earth – this book is for you. Rick Warren will help you differentiate between your ministry and your mission by uncovering your spiritual gifts.
Untangle Your Emotions: Naming What You Feel And Knowing What To Do About It by Jennie Allen
Another winner from Jennie Allen, this book looks at how it’s not a sin to feel different emotions. Feeling a range of emotions makes us human, but it’s how we allow them to manifest is what matters. She gives practical tips for sitting with our varying emotions and Biblical truths on how to process them and move on.

Finding Your Voice by Natalie Grant
One of my favorites, Finding Your Voice by Natalie Grant is an inspirational book that shows readers the power in using their spiritual gifts. We all have a talent or gift that was given to us by God – it’s how we choose to show up and use it that matters.

Unoffendable: How One Change Can Make All Of Life Better by Brant Hansen
Such a must-read if you find yourself faced with pent up frustrations, resentment.. and honestly, a timely piece for the culture we’re currently living in. Hansen reminds us there’s a fine line between understanding God’s word, and becoming offended by sin. Our job isn’t to judge, it’s to love. We can point out what’s wrong and not let it consume our hearts to the point where we can’t let it go.
Truthful and straight up in-your-face this is your wakeup call – this book is a must read for everyone.
The Garden Within: Where The War With Your Emotions Ends And Your Most Powerful Life Begins by Dr. Anita Phillips
My latest read – The Garden Within compares our wiring (our brain, our heart, our biology and chemistry) to that of a garden. By blending faith and neurobiology, she teaches readers how to cultivate emotional wellbeing through understanding that the soil (our heart) sets the tone for our seeds (our thoughts) and controls what grows.

Jennie Allen
Get Out of Your Head: Stopping the Spiral of Toxic Thoughts
My first Jennie Allen book and I was definitely impressed. If you’ve ever struggled with analysis paralysis or allowing thoughts like imposter syndrome or not being good enough to hold you back – you definitely need to read this book. Jennie teaches us that we become what we think. Based on both Scientific fact and Biblical truth she helps us learn to reframe our thinking so that we can focus on the Truth.
