Bible Verses for Comfort in Hard Times

July 5, 2022

I remember when Covid 19 first hit in 2020; it was a challenging period for the world. On one of those days, my family had our usual morning devotion and my husband shared from the book of Psalms 46:1-5.

“1God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.

2 Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea;

3 Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah.

4 There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High.

5 God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.“

It was such a beautiful moment of sharing that day and the scripture blessed and encouraged me. I remember that I was so excited that I wrote an article about it on my blog.

That Psalm remains my go-to Psalm in times of challenge. It has a way of dissipating every fear and providing comfort. And that’s exactly what God’s word does. It provides hope, comfort, and encouragement.

Personally, when I go through any challenge, the first thing that I want to think about is a word from the scripture, which I can hold onto, during the season. God’s word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path.

If you’re seeking comfort, here are 25 Bible Verses from the Book of Psalms that you can rely on for comfort and strength in hard times.

“For You, Lord, are good, and ready to forgive, And abundant in mercy to all those who call upon You. Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; And attend to the voice of my supplications. In the day of my trouble I will call upon You, For You will answer me.”
