When God Says He’s Doing a New Thing

“See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.” – Isaiah 43:19 NIV

I don’t know about you, but I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve prayed, “Okay God, any day now. Feel free to do something new… I’m ready.”

And then nothing changed. Not right away, at least.

It used to feel like I was watching life from the outside. Cheering everyone on as they walked into new opportunities, deeper faith, big breakthroughs, and I was just waiting on the sidelines with my iced coffee and my Pinterest vision board.

But here’s the thing I’ve learned about God doing a “new thing.”

It doesn’t always start with fireworks or giant billboard signs. Sometimes it starts in the quiet. When we least expect it. In the letting go.

When I went through my hysterectomy recovery recently, I had a lot of time (read: forced stillness) to reflect. And if you know me, you know sitting still is not my love language. But as I was navigating all the emotions (and believe me there were a lot) I kept coming back to Isaiah 43:19.

“I will make a way in the wilderness and rivers in the desert.”

Okay, Lord. This feels like the wilderness. Show me the way.

And slowly, quietly, He did.

He whispered it through moments of rest. Through the way my body healed, and I began to see it not as something I had to fix or fight with, but as something He created with purpose.

He whispered it in my inbox as women reached out about starting blogs, writing devotionals, launching ministries, things that lit a fire in my heart all over again.

He whispered it through every step of letting go of the old version of me and stepping into the one He’s calling me to become.

And He’s doing the same for you.

Whether you’re stepping into a new season, grieving an old one, or somewhere in between, I hope you remember this:

You are His daughter. He is making a way. And you are right on time.

Wearing His Word doesn’t just encourage us, it speaks to the world around us. So if you’re ready for your daily reminder that the same God who parted seas and formed galaxies is still showing up for you in the middle of your mess… I’ve got just the thing.
